Lower Secondary
Cambridge Lower Secondary is offered by Cambridge International and is typically designed for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It builds on the foundations of Cambridge Primary and prepares students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education IGCSE.
This course develops learners’ skills and understanding various subjects including English, Mathematics and Science which are key in a child’s foundation of Secondary Education.
At the end of this course, students are registered for Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint which provides diagnostic tests for the end of the Lower Secondary programme for English, English as a second language, Mathematics and Science. After Cambridge International marks the tests, they provide feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of each learner. This is very helpful as it helps our school initiate a discussion with parents and guardians about the way forward in regard to the next level, IGCSE.
At Acorns International/Rwanda, apart from the key subjects at this level, that is Mathematics, English Language and Science, we offer other additional subjects so that our learners have a glimpse of other subjects as they head to the next stage in their education. The following are additional subjects offered at this level.
