Another Humble Beginning
With great enthusiasm I would like to announce that we are now ready to embark on yet another humble beginning – introducing Acorns Gulu! With eager anticipation, we sow the seeds of new Acorns to witness the metamorphosis of this barren land into the vibrant campus of Acorns International School. let’s inspire and empower the future of Acorns International Schools!

Revision Of Vision, Mission, Core Values And Logo
And so the journey persisted, with the entire school community actively participating in the revision of our vision, mission, logo, and uniforms. The collective effort of each member has been truly inspiring, as reading through each contribution not only brought smiles but also enriched the overall thought process. It’s heartening to witness the diverse perspectives and ideas that have shaped our shared vision for the future. Watch the space the vast expanse as we undergo a transformative overhaul!
New Uniforms
As we took the feedback from you all about new uniforms, we are thrilled to announce that with new academic year, starting from the upcoming academic year, our students will proudly don new uniforms! Stay tuned as we reveal the captivating designs and vibrant colours soon.

Exchange Programme
The exchange programme between Acorns Kisaasi, Oak, and Acorns Kigali was an exceptionally enriching and profoundly impactful experience for all involved. Throughout the programme, we had the privilege of hosting not only students but also esteemed teachers and the Head of School from Acorns Kigali and Oak. The exchanges fostered deep and meaningful connections, facilitating an exchange of ideas, perspectives, and cultural insights. Each interaction was characterized by thoughtful discourse, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation among participants.
I was deeply moved by the exceptionally thoughtful gift I received during our joyous celebration of exchanges. This heartfelt gesture also serves as a gentle reminder of the humble beginnings from which I initiated these journeys, and it’s heartening to see how each one of you has contributed to transforming them into robust and impactful institutions today. Such moments exemplify the true essence of a meaningful life, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Acorns Kigali for leaving an indelible mark. Thank you all for making these occasions so exceptionally special!

Celebrating Women Of Acorns
Is it a beautiful coincidence or shared vision or a living legacy, Heads of Acorns School over the past 28 years and currently, the heads of all three Acorns Schools, my esteemed counterparts, have been, and continue to be, inspiring women. All the women contributed in this journey, I am thankful and grateful. To all the incredible women out there, thank you for your contributions, passion, and resilience. Today, and every day, let’s stand together in the pursuit of equality and justice.

Message From Head of School
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
As we have ended our Term 2 successfully, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our journey thus far and express my gratitude to each member of our school community. Along with academics, we have also achieved our non-academic goals successfully.
Firstly, to our diligent students: your dedication to your studies, your resilience in the face of challenges, and your commitment to personal growth are truly commendable. You have demonstrated remarkable perseverance and adaptability throughout this term, and I am immensely proud of your performance.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated parents, guardians and staff. Your unwavering support, guidance, and tireless efforts have enriched the educational experience of our students and fostered an environment of excellence and innovation within our school.
School Spirit Parental Meetup:
This is the program, which was held in the month of November and December, where School admin and parents from all classes meet with each other. We really appreciate the involvement and valuable feedbacks from our parents. This program will be regular feature in upcoming years as well.

Campus Exchange program:
We have completed pilot program in the history of Acorns, where all three campuses got chance to exchange their best practices and learning. This February, Acorns –Kaisasi hosted Acorns –Rwanda and Oak International school. Four days experience in another country and another setup helps our learners and teachers to explore and experience the difference and celebrate these differences in their life. Every year this program will be part of the academic calendar. For the academic year 2024-2025 Acorns – Rwanda will host other schools.

Embracing New chapter:
We are thrilled to unveil the remarkable changes underway as Acorns embarks on a journey of expansion. As previously communicated, we are actively reassessing and honing our Vision, Mission, and Core values.
This collaborative effort involves the entire community, with engaging discussions held with the Staff, PTO, Board Members, and, most recently, the students.
Notably, students contributed thought-provoking and heart-warming ideas, such as expressing pride in the words “Inspire” and “Empower” in the Vision Statement, highlighting the absence of ‘Education’ in our Vision statement, and transforming the tale of Oak into a leaf.
Their imaginative suggestions extend to representing inquiry in the logo through the timeless symbol of infinity, adding an ‘S’ to the Acorns logo inspired by their love of Spider-Man, and incorporating a tree within the Acorns logo. Intriguingly, questions were raised about whether a logo revision hints at a new chapter for the school.
We appreciate all valuable feedbacks given by our stakeholders to be part of this remarkable journey.
Beyond these transformative ideas, we are delighted to announce that this renewal goes beyond mere words. Anticipate a comprehensive rebranding that includes new school uniform colors, and a host of other exciting updates!

PDs for School Admin:
In the month of February and March school SMT engaged themselves in professional development. They were part of School Connect 2023 and Principal forum. This was good opportunity for SMT to make new connection and get more insight on Cambridge and British council. These learning will help us to in cooperate new teaching ideas and programs at our school from next academic year.

OSS Award:
The British Council OSS Awrds are given to exceptional British Council Partner school who engage in their Online support for school.
We awarded for second runner-up in whole Rwanda for using this online forum to train our teachers.

As we look ahead to the upcoming break, I encourage everyone to take time for rest, rejuvenation, and reflection. Let us use this opportunity to recharge our minds and bodies, and to cherish the moments spent with loved ones.

Message from the HOD secondary
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with much pleasure and honor to have this opportunity to communicate to you once again. As we have come to the end of this term 2 2024, I would like to thank you immensely for all your continued support as we work together as AIS family, raising standards and transforming young peoples’ lives so that they are ready for the task ahead of them in the near future.
For your continuous positive reinforcement, your involvement in their learning and your encouraging parental words and guidance, we sincerely appreciate. This approach, without saying contributes to children’s self-esteem, motivation and industriousness. In addition to that, your sacrifice, commitment to their emotional and social well-being and academic growth all contribute to their holistic education, and AIS is very thankful for your genuine partnership.
We have had an extremely busy yet successful term two with our students and teachers focused on learning and teaching, doing their absolute best every single day. As part of the school activities that support learning, we wish to highlight to you some of the events that took place in this just concluded term.
Camping Night
This took place on 12th to 13th January 2024 and involved students from G7-G12. This, I must note that it was such a great opportunity for participants as they got that unique experience of spending a night away from the comfort of their homes. They also developed several skills such as independence, decision making, creativity, building bonds with other people other than family, self confidence and self-esteem among others. Great thanks to the parents who give an opportunity to their children for this venture. To the entire school administration and staff (teaching and non-teaching), thanks too for your co-operation to see this happen successfully.

Field Trips
We also had field trips for both Primary and Secondary sections. It was an enriching moment for students to go out of the busy schedule and routine of their school and move to the outside world, explore, learn and discover new places and the environment around them. Our secondary students, on February 9th, 2024, visited The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Musanze District. Students learnt about the importance of preserving endangered species and the critical role that organizations like this one play in their survival. Students were also able to digitally track the mountain gorillas and their daily routine which enriched their knowledge about wild life.
Our youngsters from the primary section were also privileged to visit Acacus Park in Kicukiro on January 31, 2024. Grade 3 to 6 also managed to visit the airport where they learnt about Airport operations and travel procedures and experience. All these were a success given that our learners had fun and experienced the beauty of outdoor activities for their social well-being.

Sports Day
As part of the annual program, we held our sports day on 17th February 2024. It was a red letter day that saw students, teachers and parents interact in several social sport activities and games. With this event, parents, guardians, teachers and students got a chance to interact and this opportunity gives a holistic child development as it fosters attributes like physical fitness, team work, social wellbeing, improved mental health, confidence, discipline and general character. We are grateful to everyone that blessed the occasion.
